In the final design reviews of Denver’s newest high rise, Block 162, Zimmerman noticed a design improvement that allowed the reduction of size for the main support columns. This design change equated to a large reduction of construction costs to both the GC and the Owner.
Zimmerman’s pre-construction team worked with the project detailers to provided crucial input in assuring the unusual structural connections were not only possible to fabricate, but also met the erector’s sequencing needs. Zimmerman’s early contribution provided an advantageous economical and scheduling impact to making the Denver Art Museum expansion a success.
When planning building retrofits, it is a challenge to avoid unplanned cost escalations. At 1551 Wewatta, Zimmerman reinforced the existing structure and then installed a feature stair in such a way that made it practical in a quick turnaround window.
